The Town of Pownal is accepting blacktop bids for 5 different sections of town highways:

 

Shim and Overlay 1 ½” Total

  1. TH 2 North Pownal Road, from Center St. to Cedar Hill Road approximately 3600 Ft. by            

22’ wide

Shim and Overlay 2” Total

  1. TH2  North Pownal Road , from Mount Anthony Road to Muirs residence approximately       4400 Ft. by 22’ wide

Shim and Overlay 1 ½” Total

  1.  TH 4 Jackson Cross Road , from Sparrows Way to US 7 approximately 1900 Ft. by 22’

  wide

  1.  TH4 Jackson Cross Road , from new blacktop to top of hill approximately 2250 Ft. by        

  22’wide

Overlay 2 ½” base coat 1 ½” top coat

  1.  TH 26 Furlong Road, from blacktop apron to top of the hill approximately 500 Ft by

 18’ wide

 

Air temperature must be a minimum of 50 degrees; the road temperature must be above 50 degrees. A rubber tired roller must be used on shim coat in order to knead the pavement in existing road profile. Areas which have shim and overlays applied shall first be sprayed with a tack coat.

 

The Town of Pownal reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any informality when deemed to be in the best interest of the town. The town reserves the right to alter the list of roads to be paved in the FY 18 paving season. All bids must be valid for 120 days from bid opening date. A copy of all load slips must be handed to a town representative at the end of each day.

 

Award will be based upon cost per ton laid in place and total project cost. Mix design shall meet VTRANS specifications. Contractor will be responsible for sweeping, application of tack coat and traffic control.

 

Work must be completed within 90 days after acceptance of bid. Bids will be accepted until June 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Pownal Town Office where they will be publically opened.  Send or hand deliver sealed bids, clearly marked “BLACKTOP” along with Certificate of Insurance to: Selectmen, Town of Pownal, PO Box 411, 467 Center Street, Pownal, VT 05261. Faxed bids will not be accepted. Bids will be awarded at a duly warned Selectmen’s meeting. Call 802-442-2056 to arrange a site visit with the Road Foreman, Joel Burrington.

Button Up mini Grants from Efficiency Vermont

Button Up Day of Action - Request for Proposals: Efficiency Vermont is seeking proposals from town energy committees and other comparable community-based organizations and groups to support community-based public outreach efforts around 2016 Button Up Day of Action.  Local energy groups are encouraged to think broadly about the best ways to engage with community members around improving thermal efficiency, and are encouraged to implement community engagement activities both on and leading up to Button Up Day – scheduled for November 12, 2016.  Efficiency Vermont anticipates awarding up to 15 grants with a maximum amount of $2,500/grant.  The community mini-grants are part of a larger promotional effort that Efficiency Vermont plans to implement in the fall 2016 to promote home efficiency improvements.
